“My faith and my family bring me an abundance of joy. When I slow down enough to recognize it, I know that my heart spills over with the goodness of God’s grace. When a simple soul is filled with such an overwhelming surplus of undeserved blessing, it’s hard to keep the good fortune to oneself. Thus the biggest part of what I hope to accomplish here is to share the bounty--with my friends, with my neighbors, and with you. As it turns out, happiness loves company, too.”
Share the happiness--as well as the challenges--of Danielle Bean’s sometimes chaotic, often inspiring, always blessed life as the mother of six young children. In an essay collection that takes us from the aisles of the local grocery store to the beauty of a memorable Christmas midnight Mass, Danielle joyously welcomes us into her home and her family.
Every Catholic mother will delight in discovering humor, truth, and a wellspring of spiritual nourishment in these beautifully written stories.

Many things hold us back from receiving the healing love of God. The clamor of modern life distracts us, and our own failures and sin grieve us, tempting us to conclude that God is not exactly against us but not quite for us, either. The Journey Within: Prayer as a Path to God offers practical tips to help us surrender our brokenness, distractions, hostilities—all our experiences of personal defeat—to God. As we do so, we will find ourselves not only making peace with life as it is, but also encountering the truth that will set us free. When we put the author's suggestions into practice, we will discover that God is not simply with us—he is with us as one who serves us, heals us and restores us. St. Anthony Messenger Press 2005

One of the most striking aspects of both these books is the use of poetry. Although poetic language is to be found in many Old Testament books, it is the predominant form in these ones. The book of Psalms and the Song of Songs (or Song of Solomon) contain lyric poetry, whereas the other books consist mainly of proverbs or aphorisms in verse form, and wisdom poems in varying lengths. This is primarily why the Psalms and the Song are described as poetical books, and the others as wisdom books.
This volume also contains notes, introductions, and Latin. The editors' notes, which are rarely very technical, are designed to elucidate the spiritual and theological message of the Bible.
