The True Story of Venerable Don Carlo Gnocchi

A powerful epic film on the life of Fr. Carlo Gnocchi, an Italian priest who labored heroically to minister to the wounded and dying soldiers during World War II, and to victims of the war on the home front. While teaching students at the Gonzaga Institute in Milan, Fr. Gnocchi volunteered to be the military chaplain on the war front. After witnessing the horrors of the war, helping many suffering soldiers, and miraculously escaping death, he returned to start a foundation for the many children who were victims of the war. Starring Daniele Liotti (St. Anthony), this film tells of Don Gnocchi’s inspiring work with the students, the soldiers, and the children. His great legacy lives on today in the Don Carlo Gnocchi Foundation that provides medical care for thousands of patients in over 75 hospitals and clinics in Europe.

This DVD contains the following language tracks: English & Italian language, Spanish & English subtitles.

This is a Region 1 DVD (playable ONLY in Bermuda, Canada, the Cayman Islands, United States and U.S. territories)

OSV_T812.gif St. Damien of Molokai: Apostle of the Exiled
$14.95
OSV:T812
Saint Damien of Molokai is the riveting account of how a humble Congregation of the Sacred Hearts priest found a vocation in caring for lepers that led him to canonization on October 11, 2009.

Hawaii normally brings idyllic scenes of blue skies and white beaches to mind. But Hell invaded Paradise when the incurable disease leprosy was discovered there. An 1865 law segregated lepers by forcibly exiling individuals--even children--to the island of Molokai. It was onto these forlorn shores that Father Damien de Veuster stepped in the spring of 1873.

In an age in which an increasing number of people suffer their own personal exile on account of illness, handicap, or emotional distress, the shining example of Father Damien shows the true power of one person and how, when anchored in God's love, one person can impact the world--even among the horrors of decay and slow death. In so doing, he brought hope to the hopeless, ironically losing his own life for serving theirs.
